Every PDF file contains "Metadata" – hidden information that describes the file. This can include the author's name, the software used to create it, the creation date, and sometimes even the computer path.
Why is this a risk?
If you are submitting an anonymous review or a confidential whistle-blowing document, metadata can reveal your identity. Even for general business, you might not want clients to see internal author names.
How to clean it?
Use our Metadata Editor to strip out personal information or rewrite it to match your current branding before publishing the file.
