FAQ
Do I need both passwords?
If you only want to require a password to open the file, set a User Password. To control permissions (printing, copying, editing), set an Owner Password as well.
Can I remove protection later?
Yes, use the Unlock PDF tool and provide the correct password, then download an unprotected copy.
Will encryption increase file size?
Usually the size difference is minimal. Any increase comes from encryption metadata.
Why can some apps still copy text?
Permissions rely on the viewer honoring them. Mainstream PDF readers respect these flags, but screenshots or OCR can bypass restrictions.
